Dudkunda Trek

The Dudh Kunda itself a Holylakes, also known as the “Milky Lake Trek,” is a sacred and culturally rich trekking route that lies in the lower Everest region (Solukhumbu) of eastern Nepal. “Dudh Kunda” means “Milky Lake” in Nepali, referring to the stunning glacial lake situated at the base of Mt. Numbur (6,959m) and Mt. Karyolung (6,681m). This trek is ideal for those looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience, blending Buddhist and Hindu spirituality, Sherpa, Tamang and Rai culture, and pristine alpine scenery, all without the heavy foot traffic of the more commercial Everest Base Camp route. Dudh Kunda is regarded as the abode of Lord Shiva by Hindus, and a sacred place of worship for Buddhists. Pilgrims bathe in the lake during the Janai Purnima festival, believing it washes away sins and fulfils wishes. Walking through Yak pasture and serene forest of beautiful Rhododendron and pine forest with majestic view of Mt Everest and its neighboring peaks.
